One-touch communication without manual dialing.

Control-Room Communication

IIT Madras needed a way to connect a control-room SIP microphone console to multiple audio intercom points and a talk-back horn speaker.

Non-technical staff needed to reach any point instantly using one-touch calling rather than manually dialling extensions.

The solution had to run on a single, centrally administered IP PBX.

MVC's engineering team remotely supplied, configured, and commissioned a UCM6300A IP PBX with SIP extensions for the M20 microphone console, both GDS3702 audio intercoms, and the GSC3518HS horn speaker.

Wildlife Movement Announcements

IIT Madras has a large, sprawling area of gardens and forest. The solution facilitates announcements regarding wildlife movement.

Assistance Requests

People in the area can use the audio intercom points to request assistance from the control room.

Testing & Verification

All systems verified.

Internal call testing completed across the microphone, speaker, and audio intercom extensions.
Speed dial mapping on the M20 mic keys 1–4 verified.
UCM6300A confirmed operational.
M20 microphone confirmed operational.
Both GDS3702 units confirmed operational.
GSC3518HS confirmed operational.

Training Provided

Site personnel trained for administration.

MVC's engineer, Pankesh G., delivered hands-on training to IIT Madras site personnel covering:

System configuration
Extension management
Speed-dial configuration
Paging extension creation

This enabled the institute's own team to manage day-to-day changes independently.

Outcome

The engagement was completed to the customer's satisfaction within two days of remote configuration, with all units operational and site personnel trained on ongoing administration.

Following the successful rollout at the Chennai campus, MVC is in discussion with IIT Madras for similar Grandstream intercom, paging, and PBX deployments at other institute branches and campuses. These orders are yet to be confirmed.
